Italian Language Game: Posso parlare con... - Can I speak with...
In this quick Italian online game, you can learn and practice 14 Italian phrases as part of a mini-story.
Marco has arrived in Florence to visit his friend Alessandro.
He dials the number, but a woman answers.

When playing the game, it's best to say the Italian OUT LOUD.
After you've practiced and recalled some of the individual words, you'll hear the mini-story again.
This time "shadow" the sentences, by saying them together with the speaker in natural speed.
Even if you know the meaning of all the words, saying them in sentences takes some practice.
Note that in Italian, the words for "I, you, he, she" etc. are often dropped, unless they are needed for clarity or emphasis.

Daniel is looking for his friend's place in Aix-en-Provence.
He asks a passerby how to get to the street his friend lives on.
Say the French OUT LOUD after the speaker! It's a great way to improve your pronunciation!
You may know already the meaning of the words, but saying them fluently in a full sentence takes some practice.
This you can do by clicking on the French sentence as often as you want, and by imitating the intonation speaker.
A trick I really like is to say the phrase or sentence along with the speaker, in a sense "shadowing" the sounds.
Our games are for mid-to-high Beginners who want to learn and review conversational French.

Speaking on the telephone in a language you're learning has to be a little bit scary. But by practicing basic telephone phrases your confidence will grow.
If you're traveling in Spain you'll be talking on the phone sooner or later. So you might as well get ready.

German Language Game: Ich freue mich

A quick online German game to try out and practice 15 words and phrases as part of a mini-story.
Michael is in Heidelberg to visit his friend Karl.
Karl's girlfriend Renate opens the door, and as it's the first time they meet introductions are in order.
Introducing yourself to someone in German is not a big deal, but you need to known how.
Here's your chance to practice it.
Say the words and phrases OUT LOUD, right after or together with the speaker.
That's a really good way to sharpen your pronunciation and absorb grammatical structures without thinking about them.
For example:
- ich freue mich (I'm pleased) is reflexive in German. Don't analyze, just learn the phrase.
- Komm herein. (Come in.) "Komm!" is "Come!" (fam.) "Herein" means "in" - to where the speaker is. ["Hinein" would mean away from the speaker.]
- ein Freund Karls (a friend of Karl's). Note: the German possessive "Karls" (of Karl's) does not have an apostrophe.
- aus Boston - means "originally from Boston". (That's where they met.)
