Italian Language Game: "Vorrei scrivere" - I'd like to write.
With this quick game you'll practice and learn 19 Italian words and phrases as part of a mini-story.
In this brief story, Marco asks his uncle for family photos because he wants to write the story of the family.
The mini-story is part of our full Italian 1 course. The course is made up of a series of short stories that contain everyday useful words.

Always say the words and phrases ALOUD after (or along with) the native speaker. You'll improve your pronunciation and sharpen your listening skills.

Learning words as part of sentences helps you understand how Italian is put together.
Don't worry about the grammar behind the typical Italian combinations.
These are language patterns that you'll become familiar with the more you listen and read.
Our games are for learners at the mid- to high beginner level.
It's at this stage, you want to start practicing full sentences as well as individual words and phrases.
Click on each sentence individually as many times as you want, to practice repeating after the speaker.
Note that in Italian, the words for "I, you, he, she" etc. are often dropped, unless they are needed for clarity or emphasis. In our mini-story, the context will tell you if "chiede" means "he asks" or "she asks."
After you've practiced and recalled the individual words, you'll hear the mini-story again.
Listen and say the sentences along with the speaker.
Try not to translate.
If you write out some of the words and phrases, you'll remember them better.
But don't worry if you keep forgetting them.
Learning a language means constantly forgetting and relearning, but each time words and phrases go deeper into your memory.

Say the words and phrases OUT LOUD after the native speaker. It will help improve your pronunciation and your listening skills.
Note that in Italian, the words for "I, you, he, she" etc. are often dropped, unless they are needed for clarity or emphasis. In our mini-story, the context will tell you if "gli mostra" means "she shows him" or "he shows him."
After you've practiced and recalled the individual words, you'll hear the mini-story again.

To better remember words and phrases, review them visually, or even write them out on a sheet of paper or on small index cards.
But most importantly, always say the Italian OUT LOUD, several times if you can.

Italian Language Story: Sull'aereo - On the airplane

Part 1 of Marco's trip to Italy (Il viaggio di Marco 1 - Sull'aereo)

Listen to the Story of Marco's travels to Italy. Part 1: his flight to Pisa and arrival at the airport there.

Part 1 contains 200 words (40 sentences), and is a series of several practical conversations.

How to learn with the Story:

• Play the dialogue in chunks (4-6 sentences).
• Click on each sentence to play it again.
• Repeat each sentence aloud after the speaker.
• Imitate the music, the rhythm and sounds of the sentences, just like to you hear them. Repeat this as often as you like.
• Try to get the gist of the story even if you don't know all of the words.
• On a computer, you can scroll over each sentence, it will give you the translation.
• Write down any words you'd like to remember and recall them later. Recalling words and phrases is the best way to learn and remember them.

• At the end, you'll play a Word Shoot game to review 10 Key words of the story.

Italian Language Game: 8 Useful Adjectives



With this Italian Quick Language Game you can practice 8 Useful Adjectives. It's a fun way to learn and practice the Italian Language.
These 8 adjectives are useful for everyday conversations, add them to your toolbox!

  • giovane - young (m/f)
  • piacevole - pleasant (m/f)
  • eccezionale - exceptional (m/f)
  • facile - easy (m/f)
  • semplice - simple (m/f)
  • imponente - impressive (m/f)
  • veloce - fast (m/f)
  • principale - principal, main (m/f)

All of the adjectives have an -e ending and are both masculine and feminine.
For the plural, the ending changes to -i.
You'll learn and practice these with a short sequence of interactive games.
Remember to say them out loud and have fun imitating the pronunciation of the native speaker.
