Scene 1: In the Airplane

Flight Attendant ;; What would you like to drink?

David ;; An apple juice, please.

Flight Attendant ;; You speak Spanish.

David ;; Yes, but it is the first flight to Spain.

Flight Attendant ;; Do you want ice with juice?

David ;; Yes please.

Flight attendant ;; Anything else?

David ;; Could you give some water, please?

Flight Attendant ;; Sure, you want a bottle?

David ;; Thank you, great.

Scene 2: Great!

Woman ;; Great! You speak Spanish.

Narrator ;; She continues:

Woman ;; My English is not very good.

David ;; And I can practice my Spanish.

Woman ;; He speaks Spanish very well.

David ;; Thank you.

Woman ;; Is it American?

David ;; Yes, I was born in Boston.

Scene 3: Where?

Woman ;; He speaks Spanish very well.

David ;; Thank you.

Woman ;; Is it American?

David ;; Yes, I was born in Boston.

Narrator ;; He continues:

David ;; My mother is Mexican.

Woman ;; But you fly to Spain for the first time?

David ;; Yes, I visit my friends and family.

Scene 4: How long?

David ;; Good morning!

Officer ;; Good morning! You speak Spanish.

David ;; Yes, but I was born in Boston.

Officer ;; Are you here on business?

David ;; No, I visit my friends and family.

Officer ;; How long stays in Spain?

David ;; I stay almost three weeks.

Officer ;; Good. Well, have a good stay in Spain.

Scene 5: What coincidentia!

Woman ;; Are you going to pick someone?

David ;; Yes, my aunt picks me.

Woman ;; Where do you live your aunt?

David ;; In Barcelona on Calle Mallorca.

Woman ;; I also live in Calle Mallorca.

David ;; What a coincidence!

Woman ;; There's my suitcase! Good. Goodbye!

David ;; Goodbye!

Scene 6: I'm glad!

Carmen ;; Hi David!

David ;; Good morning, Aunt Carmen.

Carmen ;; I'm glad you're here.

David ;; It's nice of you that you may gather me.

Carmen ;; No problem!

Narrator ;; Then she says:

Carmen ;; My nephew for the first time in Spain!

David ;; Many memories of my parents.

Carmen ;; Thanks! Who is the woman who is greeting you there?

David ;; She sat next to me on the plane.

 

Spanish 1, Level 2 - David en España - Explores Barcelona

In this podcast, David, our young traveler, arrives at the home of his aunt and uncle in Barcelona. 

His cousin María shows him around the city and, after shopping in the Paseo de Gracia, they go to a café to have a "madalena" and a "horchata".
